1. When will the coverbox® devices become commercially available?

A. coverbox® devices are currently being tested. It is planned that they will be commercially available in Autumn 2008.

2. How much are they likely to cost?

A. The coverbox® device will cost an estimated £39 to install.

3. How do I get a coverbox® device?

A. Simply purchase comprehensive insurance from one of our participating insurers, and arrange a time for us to install your coverbox® at a time and location that suits you. A list of our participating insurers will be available in the Autumn of 2008.

4. What discount will I receive from my comprehensive motor insurance?

A. Our panel of insurers provide two different categories depending on driving experience:

Experienced drivers

Peak rates are likely to be Monday to Friday: 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm

Off peak rates at all other times

Inexperienced drivers (under 23)

Peak rates are likely to be Monday to Friday: 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm and also National Bank or Public holidays: 11pm to 5am

Super peak rates are likely to be Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights: 11pm to 5am and also night before and morning of a National Bank or Public holidays: 11pm to 5am

Off peak rates at all other times

If you find you do not drive as much during peak times you could save on your insurance with coverbox®

5. Will installing a coverbox® device affect my vehicles warranty?

A. No.

6. How does the coverbox® device monitor fuel economy or MPG?

A. The coverbox device will monitor fuel economy in one of two ways depending on your car's age.

For cars built after 2002 we will use the data from your car's on-board diagnostics (OBD) to measure your fuel efficiency.

For cars built before 2002 we will use an analytical calculation based on usage and GPS data to establish the fuel economy.

7. Can anyone learn the location of my vehicle?

A. No. Only yourself, people you authorise and coverbox® staff will be able to learn the location of your vehicle.
